Teams: England, USA, Slovenia, Algeria
Predicted qualifier: England, USA
This is one of the few groups which is fairly easy to be predicted. England is far more experienced and skillful then the rest of the team. USA stand a fighting chance against them, but it would be hard for them to score more goals then England in their tie if they do score. Rooney and Crouch would pick up a few goals in this stage, and it’s a very good time for some players such as Ferdinand and Barry to pick up their form. USA is a very organized team and they should outplay the other 2 teams, but they need another miracle to overcome England. Onyewu doesn’t play lot of games since he moved to Milan, while Spector has a disappointing season at West Ham. They have to be more solid at the back if they would like to go any further then second round. No doubt Slovenia has eliminated Hiddink’s Russia, while Algeria beat African champion Egypt. But they are still not likely to spring a surprise in world cup. Anyway we can still eagerly anticipating with Krhin (Slovenia) and Belhadj (Algeria) performances in South Africa. They could give us some memories of the participation of their teams this time.
