Germany has troubled by plenty of injuries which saw their captain Ballack, goalkeeper Adler and versatile defender Westermann ruled out of the tournament. However this team is still far too strong for the Socceroos. However the German has to wary for the solid defence from Australian and their dangerous set-pieces with Cahill a particular danger man. Germany has lots of talented players. But there is doubt on whether youngsters like Ozil and Marin could star in such a big stage. Podolski and Klose don't seem to be in a great form as well. Anyway I still believe they have sufficient depth on the bench to clinch all 3 points today.
Man to watch (Germany): Bastian Schweinsteiger
With the absence of Michel Ballack, Schweinsteiger has to win the ball and distribute the ball well enough in the holding midfield role. He has to stand out as a good example to lead the young German midfield whenever they face great resistance from the Australian.
Man to watch (Australia): Mark Schwarzer
The experienced keeper has to perform at his top level to frustrate the German forwards before Australia could form some quick counter attacks whenever the young German side has any moment of lapsing concentration.
Prediction: Germany to win narrowly 1-0
