Preview: Argentina v Nigeria

Argentina is too strong for Nigeria. Although we do not have faith with Maradona’s coaching ability, still the talents of the Argentine should see off the challenge of Nigeria. This Argentina would start with a 3-4-3 formation with Jonas Gutierrez play as a right midfielder who is responsible for right back defence as well. I would think this is a hole to be utilized by the Nigerian if they are going to spring a surprise. Anyway Tevez, Higuain and Messi are still too tough to handle by Nigeria defence. The forwards are slowly gelling together with Di Maria provides some width and Veron distribute some through balls to them. Nigeria has a good physical strength, with Martins and Yakubu could break the Argentine defence through quick counters. But Mascherano would shield the defence well and I can’t see Shittu and Yobo to stop the fanstastic four from scoring.

Man to watch (Argentina) – Carlos Tevez
Given a starting role after some inspiring performances in training and warm-up matches, the star striker is definitely a danger man especially when Nigeria would have to focus on the magician Messi.

Man to watch (Nigeria) – Joseph Yobo
The Everton center-back has to organize his defence well and solid to resist moments of magic from the dangerous Argentine forwards. He has to pass this momentary task with flying colours if Nigeria is going to stand a chance to steal a point here.

Prediction: Argentina to cruise through 3-1
